The Life of Francis MacNutt
by CHM An engaging, conversational glimpse through interviews with family, friends and professional colleagues of the remarkable life and ministry of Francis MacNutt. Francis is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. His education in pre-med was interrupted when he was called to serve in World War II as an army surgical technician. He later graduated from Harvard University, then earned a master's degree from Catholic University of America. After joining the Dominican Order, he earned a Ph.D. in theology and, in 1956, was ordained a priest. Francis' life and ministry took an extraordinary turn in 1967, when he was baptized with the Holy Spirit and began to realize the magnitude of God's transforming, healing power. Francis' passion for the healing ministry has continued for four decades and has re-kindled faith for healing among countless Christians. The work he began as a Roman Catholic priest, leading healing teams and addressing large gatherings in over 30 countries on five continents, has continued with unflagging zeal. After meeting in Jerusalem, Francis married Judith Sewell in 1980, and together they founded Christian Healing Ministries in Clearwater, Florida. This international ministry, now located in Jacksonville, Florida, models a balanced, biblical approach to healing prayer. In 1974, Francis wrote
Healing
(considered a classic on healing prayer), which has sold almost a million copies in the United States alone. He has also written many other books, all of which are sold world-wide and have collectively been translated into sixteen languages.
