Angelic Realm Q&A

by Judith MacNutt
2022 Vol. 02

The following is an excerpt from a new book to which I contributed entitled Angels All Around Us.  This book was a collaboration between Christian Healing Ministries and Guideposts publishing.

I hope you find comfort in knowing that when you cry out to God, He listens and responds by sending His mighty ones to rescue you and remove the chains of bondage, fear and oppression.

Angels have the ability to raise us up or to alter our circumstances, because they minister with God’s power on our behalf.

Angels operate on assignment from God by doing His bidding. They appear mysteriously, perform their task, and miraculously disappear in the twinkling of an eye. Angels have no desire to draw attention to themselves, wanting only to accomplish God’s will. (Angels All Around Us, 2022, p. 55)

ARE GUARDIAN ANGELS ASSIGNED AT BIRTH? IS THIS SCRIPTURAL OR TRADITION?

Yes, there are scripture references that make me believe He assigns an angel at the moment of conception. The moment God breathes life into a baby at conception it is a life; that person is a human being, a soul.  Anything God creates, He protects.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” — Matthew 18:10

CAN WE ASK ANGELS TO ASSIST US?

Yes, we can pray to the Father to send angels to our aid, but we are never to command angels. They work at the command of the Father.

Both the original Greek and Hebrew words for angel mean “messenger.” They bring us messages of inspiration, warning, encouragement—and guidance, often during life’s most difficult moments.

The common ingredient …is calling on God’s direction and guidance when we need them most. The holy angels stand ready to serve God and His children as we seek God’s intervention. “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”  (Angels All Around Us, 2022, p. 9)

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. — Psalm 91: 9-12

IF ANGELS ARE FULL OF MERCY, WHY DID ONE THIRD OF THEM FALL?

God gave the angels free will, just as He gave humans free will. He wants our love to be voluntary. The angels in heaven did not have to stay and serve God.

God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.  — 2 Peter 2:4

I believe one third of the angels were deceived by the beauty of Lucifer, simply because he was in God’s presence and reflected God’s glory. In other words, he appeared beautiful.

So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. — Ezekiel 28:16-17

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God.”  — Isaiah 14:12-13

I have asked this question of people who have gotten trapped in addiction or adultery. Why did you do that? They report that in the beginning it was so alluring and beautiful and perfect. Those are the exact words they use to describe their temptation. Satan is still beautiful, alluring, seductive, controlling and manipulative. When we begin a habit of sin, we do not see the dark side.

WHY ARE SOME ANGELS LOCKED UP AND OTHERS ALLOWED TO PROWL THE EARTH AND CREATE HAVOC IN THE WORLD AND THE LIVES OF BELIEVERS?

Not all demons are roaming the world; according to scripture, some of them are already locked up.

And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. — Jude 1:6

Those locked up may have so much power that it would be an overwhelming evil, so these are under restraint.

However, we do know what happens when demons encounter Jesus. During a deliverance, Jesus is present with His authority; we are simply His representatives.

People that can see into the spiritual realm have seen demons leave a person during deliverance. Jesus is present in the room. The demon comes out of a person, goes over to Jesus and kneels down. This is an image that people have seen.

Just as healing is a mystery, evil is a mystery. You must allow for mystery and don’t try to explain everything.

IN CHM'S PRAYER OF PROTECTION IT SAYS: "WE BREAK THE ASSIGNMENTS OF ANY SPIRITS SENT AGAINST US AND SEND THEM TO  JESUS TO DEAL WITH THEM AS HE WILL." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Francis has said, “We leave it up to Jesus to deal with the spirits; we don’t know whether the spirit is evil or not. Whatever this spirit is, we send it to Jesus. I like to do as little naming things as ‘evil’ as possible.”

I have authority to do only what the Holy Spirit is asking me to do, and that is to command the spirit to leave a child of God. We want the person to be free from the influence of the spirit.

Demons are very powerful beings. The book Needless Casualties of War by John Paul Jackson will help you understand that when you deal with the demonic you are stepping into a very serious battle. We don’t have to be afraid, but we need to treat the demonic world with respect; meaning, I do not recommend mocking them.

Send the spirits to Jesus and tell them not to come back. It is an evil realm and Jesus is the one who has defeated them. Let’s let Him deal with it.

God has assured us that not even the fallen angels can separate you from His love; we are safe with Him.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 8: 37-38

But when we cried out to the LORD, He heard our cry and sent an angel. — Numbers 20:16
